Beautiful downtown Port Gibson will be the site of the 16th Annual Port Gibson Main Street Heritage Festival on Saturday, March 29, 2008.
The full day of activities begin at 8:00 a.m. with the Dilla Dash, a 5K walk/run. This Mississippi Track Association Grand Prix Event will take participants through the residential streets of Mississippi's third oldest incorporated town which should be in full spring bloom. Entry fee is nominal and each participant will receive a collectible t-shirt. (Read more).

Music is an important part of each Heritage Festival and this year the Port Gibson Main Street organization is pleased to announce that three nationally known groups will play on the Main Stage in the afternoon. The music will begin just after noon and the Main Stage is located at the corner of Fair and Farmer Streets. Music chair Edward Carter said "The music committee tries each year to have a variety of artists for the entertainment of everyone. This year we believe we've done that with rising country star William Michael Morgan of Vicksburg, Compozitionz and The Bluz Boys of Jackson".

Port Gibson is home to the Mississippi Venison Cook-off State Championship, sponsored by Mississippi Farm Bureau, and this year it will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 as a part of the 16th annual Port Gibson Main Street Heritage Festival.
Deer hunting is a large part of Claiborne County's tourism industry and this year's championship cook-off will be held at the corner of Main and Farmer Streets. Bin Andrews, co-chair of the event, said "In addition to hosting award winning cooking teams, the Venison Cook-off area will provide several fun activities for everyone to participate in and at no charge." Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to winning cooking teams. Applications to cook will be taken until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 and are available on the Main Street by calling (601) 437-5811 or (601) 437-5971.
